Pain... 1/11/09 Over ten years rocking and still going strong!!!
Traveler in Pain has been rocking New Mexico crowds for over ten years. The band offers a broad, diverse and entertaining musical experience time and time again. At times, the members have changed, as well as the musical content. However, the dedication perseverance and the inspiration provided us by our "family of pain" (fan base), have provided us the opportunity to perform our preferred musical styles (including original material) on a consistent basis; to friends new and old.  IN September 2003, we debuted our heaviest and most consistent line-up to date, which included monster drummer Todd Wilburn, whose influences range from Jazz to Death Metal, has a resume too long to print, and whose skills as a recording producer conjure up memories of Phil Spector's wall of sound meets Frankenstein. The final piece of the puzzle of pain was Patrick Gabaldon, whose playing enthusiasm, comedy, and willingness to play any song (really, any song),as well as Lance and Brian which provided new blood and inspiration to the fans and the rest of the band. This definitive line -up played throughout Albuquerque for over 4 years which culminated with our Album and CD release In August of 2006. It was as a tribute to this line-up that we just released the double live cd, which includes the full cd release concert, the 94 rock interview and unplugged performance, as well as the final gig featuring that line- up titled Heroes and Legends Pat's final gig. We hope you will enjoy this latest release from us. You can pick this up at the site or at any Traveler in Pain gig.

The band has had a few line-up changes over the past two years, as Brian and Pat took leave from the band and were replaced by James CAMPBELL AND STEVE WILBURN RESPECTIVELY. In January of 2009, We have just completed our ten years of rocking New Mexico and we are already booked solidly through 2009, so enjoy the eleventh year rocking!

Pain Update 6-23-06

Well, now the waiting begins!!! The proofs for the cd art and the music have been approved by us and production is nearly complete. I'll now begin checking my box for our order and get the product on the market. We are also playing the waiting game with regard to negotiating a venue for our cd release. We are directly and indirectly negotiating with a few downtown bars to secure a venue for our cd release. Hopefully we can get the Sunshine or the Launch Pad, since they are all ages venues and we would be thrilled to perform for some of our younger audience, who can't come to the bars. As soon as I know a date and a venue, I will forward the particulars to you all. Just in time for summer, the new CD, new Traveler in Pain summer wear and new reversable hats (for males and females) will be available. Contact me at the website or at the shows to get your Traveler in Pain merchandise.
Next Weekend Fri June 30th and Saturday July 1st, come rock the west side as we return to rock out at Elliotts on the West side. We Hope to See you all there!!!

And, for an additional prize, name at least 2 other bands that participated and gave support to the cause?

5-28-06
Sorry folks, I've been extremely busy... The CD was sent off for mass replication about 10 days ago, so I've been mad busy helping finish the mix, artwork layout design and such. Thank you all for a wonderful cinco de Mayo at Malarkys and a great 19th and 20th of May at Joker's. We had a blast rocking for you. I've also been moving out of my apartment over the past week, which really sucks since my new house will not be ready until July 1st. We are actually off for the next few weeks and are currently shopping a few venues downtown for our cd release. As soon as we know something, I will let you all know.  We will be adding new features to the site, including videos from all eras of the band, archived set lists and breaking up the friends and family section by years, so if you are  a new friend of pain, you won't have to scroll through seven years of strangers to see your lovely faces.
I guess I stumped the guessers for the last trivia. This week's will be a little easier. Name one former drummer, former guitar player and one former bass player to have played in the band. The prize will be cool and something new but I'm keeping this one secret until we have our winner. The first person to answer to our forum at www.travelerinpain.com will earn the prize. Good luck!!!

           PAIN...

5-1-06
Wow, it's been a busy week. Thanks for all your support last weekend at Joker's, especially on Sunday. I was happy to help hope the benefit, and proud to have shared the stage and seen members of many local bands on hand, such as Rudy Boy experiment, Ravenous, Angry Chair, Greg Valdez, Steve Best and Larry of Changes, Ernest H of the old Joker'z Wild and Suicide solution, Dirty Modine and Booger. As a whole, we helped raise over a thousand dollars for the March of Dimes foundation; so thank you!!! We took our final album pictures last Thursday at an undisclosed location (it may be a trivia question, someday) and I spent most of the weekend trying to assist Dianna with the layout and graphics of the album. Of course, most of the time I was in the way or only added to her stress level but we (she) got a lot done. Hopefully, her computer will cooperate and allow us to finsh this final part of the project this week.
Speaking of this week; come rock out with us this weekend Friday May 5th (cinco de Mayo) and Saturday, May 6th at Malarky's!!! We hope to see you all there. Bring your sombreros, serape's and ponchosA jolly time is guaranteed for all...

Wow, a weekend off! Well, we actually took a full week off to get some well deserved rest and celebrate Todd's b day last week. Not much new in the world of Pain this past week, except there were no winners of last week's weekly trivia. I extended the contest a few more days but to no avail. We hope you come rock with us this weekend Friday January 27th and Saturday, January 28th at Malarky's, located at Hotel Circle, near the corner of Eubank and Lomas. A splendid time is guaranteed for all, so come rock with the PAIN!!!
This week's weekly trivia is for one of the new limited edition, rockin in 2006 t-shirts designed by Dianna and our Bass player, Patrick Gabaldon. The question will be a lot easier than the last and your participation is encouraged. This week's gigs actually mark the anniversary of this band being formed. How many years will the band be celebrating after this Saturday's gig? The first correct response to our forum wins the shirt.

1-08-06
Happy New Year and thank you for your wonderful support !!! Thanks for another awesome and fulfilling year in the life of the Pain. New Year's Eve was fun and last night at Elliott's was awesome. Special thanks to our brother Tom of Hit Parade for filling in and rocking out with us on such short notice. YOU ROCK TOM!!! We are still in the mixing process with the album but it is going well. The title track, "Paths of Sorrow, Roads to Pain... " is completed and can be seen and heard by logging on to our web site at www.travelerinpain.com . We hope you enjoy this little treat from the band. We will update you on the status of the album and the release date, when we are closer to being finished. Now available at all shows, we now have two new Traveler in Pain t-shirts with new designs, one commemorating rockin in 2006 and another theme shirt for the song "The King Who Would Be Man". We will be rocking next weekend January 13th and 14th at Jokers Pub and we hope to see you all there!!! As a special gift for the christmas season, we sent out a short video clip of our title track "Paths of Sorrow, Roads to Pain..." , which featured several live clips, as well as a few shots of some of the paths of I've treaded, in my search for knowledge, reason, happiness and faith. We hope you enjoyed a small glimpse into our lives and have enjoyed the music over the years. For this week's forum topic, let us know what your thoughts are on the first song from the album and the concepts it alludes to. This week's weekly trivia will be for a new commemorative rockin in 2006 t-shirt with artwork designed by Dianna and our Bass player Pat Gabaldon. The question also comes from the video clip from the site. The first person to accurately Name each corresponding country and/or city featured in the clip and respond to our forum will win the shirt and a cd of that song. Good luck and enjoy!!!

Thank you all for your most wonderful support at Joker's this past weekend. We had an awesome time and were able to introduce ourselves to many new friends of pain, as well as rock out with long time members of the family of PAIN! As previously stated, we have finished recording and have spent the past two Thursdays mixing and tweaking with levels and adding post production sound effects, intros and such. The early demos we've created are really quite unique and energetic and we are really excited about the finished product, which should be out in early 06!!!! We hope every one of you gets one as soon as it's available. In other happenings, we will be off for the next two and a half week's until New Year's weekend, where we will be rocking in the New Year with Pain at Malarkey's. We will be playing there on Friday Dec 30 and of course, on New Year's Eve, Sat December 31st. We are pleased to announce that as of last Friday, advance tickets are available at Malarky's for only $10.00, which guarantees your entry, your seat, as well as any party favors/toasts. (Ps, we are trying to keep the cost down since Mistys charges $25-$50 per table or 10 just to stand in the place)So please reserve your spot in advance by going to Malarkys in person or calling there at 323-9380, so we can rock in the New Year together. In addition, since we care about your safety and no one wants to deal with the police, Malarky's has worked out specials on rooms with the neighboring hotels, so feel free to enquire about this as well. This will be our sixth consecutive new years rocking in the New Year, and we hope to make it a really memorable show, since we had the pleasure of rocking the last 5 at Mistys Hideaway, before it sucked. To commemorate this event, we are making special event shirts for the New Years shirt, complete with a New design and cool pictures, let's have a grand ole time together. This week's news is for a long sleeve sweatshirt , which will be awarded to the first person to answer correctly to our forum the following question: Name the title of our first CD and our soon to be released CD?

12-5-05
Well, we're back. We had our few weeks off, finished recording, began the mixing process, and finished the week with a one night stand at Elliott's on the west side. Thank you all for your support on Friday night. Well, it felt good to be back after a short break, we will be rocking the house at Joker's Pub this Friday and Saturday night and hope to see all you pain faithful in person for an ass-kicking weekend. Don't forget, we are planning a big show at Malarkey's on December 30th and New Year's Eve Dec 31st. I've just spoken to Malarky's and was assured that New Year's Eve cover charge will be no higher than $10 (and this guaranties a seat, as opposed to $25-50.00 at Mistys (MUCK Fistys) and other NE heights bars, just to get in the door. They are also working out hotel specials with the surrounding hotels. We encourage you to reserve your spot ASAP. Tickets/reservations will be available beginning next Friday Dec 9th at Malarkey's, so get yours early. My last weekly trivia was a hard one and we had no winner after two weeks, so I'll make this easy, since the last one was so hard and stumped you all. For a long sleeve Traveler in Pain shirt, be the first to answer the following: what year did Traveler in Pain first form? Please be the first to answer at the forum to receive your free shirt. Well that's a lot of info for now, hope to see you this weekend at Joker's!!!

Sorry folks, I've been really busy the past few weeks working mad OT and rocking out with you folks the past two weekends but that's a good thing. Thank you all for your most wonderful support the past two weeks at Elliotts and at Joker's Pub !!! Saturday night at Jokers was one of the most fun bar gigs I've been associated with in a while. The crowd was standing, yelling, singing, headbanging, dancing and Jumping around most of the night. You all were truly amazing! What made it better was going Head to Head with the corporate, cocksucking Crawl and my favorite little dirty, dive bar with an absentee slumlord, Fistys Hideaway. We cordially invite you to rock out with us next weekend at Malarky's, where we will be doing a creepy, spooky halloween show with a costume party, where we will award prizes for best costume, worst costume and sexiest costume. (No, Pat dressed as a Traveler in Pain groupie does not count!!!) We will also be celebrating our good friend's Lisa B and Courtney's birthdays. We hope to see all you little creatures, beasts, ghouls and goblins there.

PS. We've added two new postings to the site this week. One is an updated weekly trivia for the week, and the other is a new review feature, in which you can rate the Traveler in Pain shows. For more on this, log on to www.travelerinpain.com and visit the forum. You views and suggestions matter to us, so keep em coming. Hope to hear from you all and see you soon!

Not much to report on the Pain front this week. We were scheduled to record on Sat but we were presented with the opportunity to play an impromptu private party, and we did so. It was a lot of fun, thanks to Juan and the rest of the Vigils for having us. We took some pictures from that outdoor show and they are now on the site. Congratulations to Coryann for becoming our first winner in our weekly trivia contest. She was the first to identify Muck Fistys as Fuck Mistys Hideaway and the embittered bar owner as Stewart. Beginning next week , we get really busy, by playing three of the next four weeks. Next Friday night a special one night stand at Elliotts, the following weekend October 14th, 15th at Jokers Pub, and October 28th, 29th at Malarkys. We hope to see you all there. 9-22-05 Sorry, I've been a real slacker lately. I'm just getting used to my new graveyard schedule and we've been busy playing, recording and working on about a dozen new tunes to rock you when we hit the ground running in ROCTOBER. Thank you all for your wonderful support @ Malarkey's a few weeks back and @ Jokers this past weekend. The crowds were large and loud, and it was really a blast for us. This week, with Todd engineering, Brian and I completed our guitar tracks to the song B Minor Blues. I am scheduled to complete Piano tracks (yes, a fucking piano) on 2 songs this weekend. After that, all we have remaining is a few leads by Brian and a few vocal overdubs, then we can begin the mixing process and plan a killer release for all of you! We will be off the next two weeks but we return in full force in ROCKTOBER. We play a one night stand on October 7th @ ELLIOTTS on the west side, then October 14th, 15th @ JOKERS PUB, followed by Halloween/Devil's night weekend @ MALARKY'S on October 28th, 29th. Come in costume on the 29th. We will be having a contest and giving away prizes for the best costume, worst costume and sexiest costume!!! A new feature on the site will be a weekly giveaway on the site. Join our forum under the weekly trivia category, the first person to correctly answer the weekly question and win a prize from the pain catalogue. We appreciate your wonderful support and hope you enjoy the band and the site!!!

8-22-05 Hello friends of pain. Thank you for your most wonderful support !!! I just returned from my awesome summer vacation. While on vacation, I had the pleasure of making some cool connections and possibly making some inroads to getting the Pain noticed. Last Thursday, I had the pleasure of being treated to VIP treatment as a personal guest of Black Sabbath at Phoenix OZZFEST, While at the show, I was able to hang out back stage, mingle and munch with members of Black Label Society, Shadow's Fall, In Flames, Iron Maiden and most importantly, Black Sabbath (yes, OZZY too) . For pictures from the show and back stage, Check the website at www.travelerinpain .com, in the About Lance page for photos. Hopefully we get a response back from OZZY's management team, since I was able to get them a sampler of a few of the songs from our soon to be released album Paths of Sorrow, roads to Pain...We will be back in action next weekend, August 26th and 27th at Malarkey's. We have limited editions remaining of the band's first CD, Traveler in Pain and new summer T's, Jerseys and Spaghetti straps for the ladies. Check the merchandise page on the site or pick one up in person at the shows. We hope to see you all there!!! In the meantime, have a great time at this week's ozzfest show.
